target audiences

I can understand why businesses use the VALS system for lifestyle segmentation . I believe the system is very accurate. When i took it , it told me that I was an achiever and a experiencers. I like to stay on top of fashion trends and will spend the money for the quality. While i do like to make things for myself such as clothes, i still very much like to go out and shop . It even pointed out my category's characteristics like to impulse buy, which i am also known for doing .
In terms of the presentations on Tuesday, my group had Libby Lu's. A young girls store which pampers little girls, a mini spa for miniature women. I don't know if the VALS survey would really accommodate the little girls because the youngest age bracket that had was 18-24. However if the parents fell into the category of achiever, experiencers or strivers they would probably take their child to Libby Lu's. The whole concept of Libby Lu's is to treat young girls to pamper themselves as perhaps their mothers do when they go get their nails or hair done. Pampering is not looked as necessary to all individuals . Whereas my mother has always been about taking care of yourself, not every parent would be willing to spend money on such a service. I do agree the VALS survey should be used with other segmentation methods to get a completly accurate idea, but the survey in my opinion is quite accurate.
